Greetings Camping Committee Volunteer,
We wanted to let you know of some upcoming changes in the Security and Camping Committees of the Folk Festival. Because we host a relatively large population, we need to be prepared for just about any eventuality and must focus on protecting our attendees, both ticket holders and volunteers. To this end, it is imperative that we streamline our security efforts. After numerous discussions with Upper Salford Township officials, as well as local Emergency Management, Fire Safety, and EMS Services, along with officials in Homeland Security who have counseled us in mass casualty training, it has been mandated that we create a unified Security force for our event with a single chain of command.
We will be realigning the current gate crews, both Prefest and during the Festival, along with all interior and perimeter campground security efforts under the Security Committee. These volunteers will now be under the direction of Security Co-Chairman, Joe Oberholtzer. All volunteers that have worked the gate crews or interior and perimeter security for Camping are encouraged to continue to do so on the Security Committee.
The Camping Committee will continue to serve our campground guests, both volunteers and ticket buyers, but with less people and slightly different responsibilities. Camping and Security Committee leadership will be meeting in the coming weeks to work out the details that will be published as soon as they are ready.
Please contact the Security Committee as soon as possible through their website, http://www.pffsecurity.com and complete the Security application. Make sure to provide your prior status, supervisor, crew chief, etc. and note that you worked the gate crew for Camping, so you can be assigned properly.
We know you may have some questions or concerns and we look forward to working through everything together.
Thank you for your cooperation and understanding. We appreciate your willingness to help make our Festival a safe and happy place.
Hank Voigtsberger for the Festival Leadership Team.
